May is the best time of year to see Mercury. So come early for a glimpse of Mercury through astronomer Bob Piekiel’s telescopes, or stay late for a chance to see several nearby galaxies. Sat. 10 — Nature in the City: "Pizza and Wings" @ Sunnycrest Park 11am-12:30pm BWNC joins Sunnycrest Park Association and Cornell Lab of Ornithology to “Celebrate Urban Birds”. Come see the surprising variety of birds that call Syracuse home! Birding tours, real bird mounts, gardening projects, and FREE PIZZA! Bring mom out to enjoy over 25 acres of landscaped gardens & ponds, 500,000 flowering bulbs, & 700 flowering trees & shrubs. Proceeds benefit BWNC. Sun. 18 — Nature in the City Lecture Series: Grassroots Education in Syracuse Green Spaces — 2 pm
Program manager Matt Kauffman discusses how SUNY-ESF’s scientific research can inform grassroots education efforts in Syracuse green spaces. Come learn how you can partner with BWNC and its Nature in the City program, to develop the next generation of environmentally literate citizens. This final lecture of a four part series will take place at Baltimore Woods Nature Center. Please register! FREE!

Cabin Campfire: Pioneer Plantings 7-8:30pm Help plant the pioneer gardens at Baltimore Woods with Master Gardener John Hosford and naturalist Matt Kauffman.
