Located on top of one of the numerous drumlins that can be found in Syracuse, the Elon P. Stewart Standpipe was constructed in 1925. The masonry building encloses a two million gallon steel tank that supplies drinking water to the surrounding neighborhood. Major renovations to the standpipe were completed in 1990.
One of the highest points in the city at 677 feet above sea level, this part of the park was designed as an overlook and provides an excellent wide-angle view of Syracuse and its surroundings.
